4 hikes you can do from Live Life InTents

One of the things that Cape Breton is known most for is our hiking. At Live Life InTents, people often ask us if there are hikes nearby that they can do. We’ve included a few below that are within driving distance of our grounds!

  1. The Skyline Trail

Known as the gem of our national park, the Skyline Trail is a 40 minute drive from our campground. This trail is a 8.4km out and back, 240m gain trail. It is generally considered easy, the trail is well maintained and the slope is gradual. Alternatively, you can do the loop which turns it into a 10.1km, 270m gain hike. Expect the trail and parking lot to be extremely busy during summer and fall, but definitely worth the view.

2. Egypt Falls

This is more of a local favourite. You can find this one on All Trails or take a photo of the hand written directions from our shop. Less than 2km and 150m of gain, this is a moderate out and back and only a 15-20 minute drive from our campground. The trail can be steep but keep an eye to your right as you hike down to make sure you catch sight of the new trail that was recently done by our community; this has made the hike safer and includes stairs so that people of all levels can hike it. This waterfall truly is beautiful! It is much wider than your average waterfall and you can swim in the second tier. Be aware that the end of the trail has ropes to hold onto as the terrain is steepest there.

3. Corney Brook Falls

Located inside our national park, this trail is roughly a 30 minute drive from LLIT. It is one of the first hikes inside the park when entering from the Chéticamp side and you will have to purchase a park pass to do this hike. It is a 6.6km, 182m gain out and back. It is considered an easy trail and accessible for many skill levels.

4. Blueberry Mountain

Considered an alternative to the Skyline and a dog-friendly trail, this is also located in our national park. It is roughly 30 minutes from our campground. This is a 6.6km out and back with a 455m elevation gain; slightly steeper than many hikes in our park. It takes a few hours to complete and the view at the top is truly breathtaking. You can find more information on All Trails.
