Private Guided Services on Cape Breton Island

Whether it’s a group of friends, associates, or your family, the trip is only open to your group. Choose from our great hiking destinations and get started today!

There are two options for creating a custom experience. Option one is to pick one of our existing experiences and we’ll convert it into a private trip for you and your group. Option two is to tell us what you want and we will curate an experience around that request. Please note that we assess custom requests on a case-by-case basis, and occasionally requests are infeasible for a variety of reasons.

Here are some examples of previous private experiences:

  • 3-Days backcountry hiking and camping exploring alternate routes in the Pollett’s Cove - Aspy Bay Wilderness Area

  • 2-Day camp, canoe, and fishing trip on the Margaree River similar to that documented in our film The Strawberry Run on YouTube

  • 2 days hunting and exploring off-trail waterfalls deep in the Cape Breton Highlands.

  • 2-Day weekend winter camping and snowshoeing trip in the Cape Breton Highlands National Park

Included

  • Return transportation from LLIT HQ

  • Tea / Coffee

  • Guide Services, route planning, and safety plans

Not Included

  • All personal items *recommended gear lists will be sent once the trip is finalized

booking process:

  1. Submit a request using the booking widget at the bottom of the page.

  2. One of our staff will follow up with you to discuss the request and potential dates.

  3. Once the trip details have been confirmed, we will send out a request for a deposit (50%) then your booking will be confirmed *Fee breakdown below.

  4. Once a deposit is confirmed, you will be sent a recommended and required packing list based on the trip.

THINGS TO KNOW:

  • Our specialty is off-trail / backcountry trips however if you’re looking for a guide in the front country we can provide that as well. If we cannot provide the service for you, we will recommend one of the other local companies that provide more accessible hiking and guiding experiences.

  • We’ve explored and completed many of the first descents on most of the rivers feeding off of the highlands and have a wealth of knowledge that is not available anywhere else.

  • We will provide you with a personal gear checklist and have a minimum requirement for some personal gear and most trips.

  • We can rent and outfit your group if needed as well.

RATES

  • Our private guide rate is $ 550 CAD+hst / day *please note that there are additional fees if all outfitting for any multi-day paddling or multi-day hiking trips is required.

  • The rate is based on 1-4max guests. If your group is more than 4 another guide will be required for every 4 people in the group.

  • Deposit: 50% of the total cost of the experience due to confirm the booking.

  • Final Balance: Due 28 days before departure.

Cancellation Policy

  • There is a $100 admin fee which is non-refundable on any private experience.

  • The deposit is fully refundable if canceled up to 28 days before the departure date.

  • Within 28 days of the booking date, the deposit is non-refundable.

  • If canceled between 28 days and 14 days before departure a 50% refund (of the full balance).

  • If canceled between 14 and 7 days before departure 25% refund (of full balance).

  • If cancelled within 7 days of departure no refund will be given.
