Guided Tours

Original Tour

Difficulty: All Skill Levels

Distance: 10km approx

Duration: 2-3hrs on river (4 hours total)

River Conditions: Flatwater

Food: Snack provided

Tour offered: June - October

It begins in Margaree Forks and weaves you through a series of salmon pools, into the lush interval farmlands. Offering a little more than your typical flat-water paddle, this lazy run has a few tricks up its sleeve. No experience required, just a fun attitude and confidence!

Sunset Paddle

Difficulty: All Skill Levels

Distance: 10km approx

Duration: 2-3hrs on river (4 hours total)

River Conditions: Flatwater

Food: Local charcuterie & hot drink

Tour offered: June - October

Witness the river's transformation as the sun sets. Glide through the still waters, surrounded by the calming sounds of nature. This evening paddle on Cape Breton's Margaree river offers a magical blend of serenity and the enchantment of the fading daylight.

Riverside Heritage Tour

Difficulty: Intermediate

Distance: 10km approx

Duration: 2-3hrs on river (4 hours total)

River Conditions: Mostly Flatwater with some class 1 rapids

Food: Snack provided

Tour offered: June - October *by request only

Immerse yourself in Cape Breton's rich history as you paddle along historic riverbanks. Our guided tour combines the thrill of river exploration with fascinating tales of the region, creating a unique and educational kayaking experience.

Margaree Packrafting Tour

Difficulty: Intermediate / Advanced

Distance: 10km approx

Duration: 2 days on river | 5-6 hours of paddling a day

River Conditions: Lots of class 2 rapids with some flatwater

Food: Meals provided

Tour offered in May / Early June or November / December

This adventure takes well up past its popular Atlantic Salmon fishing pools to its headwaters and into true wilderness. This weekend trip will require some white water navigating through some exciting rapids followed by an easy paddle exploring the lower river ending near LLIT HQ.

Self-Guided Rental

Rent a kayak or sup for a half-day self guided excursion. We will provide you with transport back to your vehicles from designated take-out locations.

  • Tandem Kayak or Canoe $74.99

Canoe

Rent a canoe for a self-guided trip and pick from various put-in locations or rent the canoe by the day to take with you.

Rental includes 2x Paddles, 2x PFDs and boat safety kit.

Cost : $74.99

Inflatables

Rent a packraft or inflatable paddleboard by the day to take with you wherever you wish.

Distance: 10km approx

Duration: 3-4 hours

Cost :

  • iSup $55/day

  • Packraft $55/day

Rentals include paddle, pump and PFDs.

Pick up and drop off in Margaree only.

Shuttle Zones & Rates

  • Zone 1 is anything downstream from our tubing launch location to anywhere downstream to East Margaree Bridge (Larchwood)

    Zone 1 shuttle is included in our self-guided rental fees.

    Bring your own: $35 *only available before 10 am and must be booked at least 24hrs in advance.

  • Zone 2 is upstream from Margaree Forks to Ross Bridge (NE River) or Gillisdale Bridge (SW River).

    Zone 2 shuttle is available for both self-guided and those bringing their boats.

    Rate: $50+hst

    *Only available before 10 am and must be booked at least 24hrs in advance.

  • Zone 3 is upstream from Ross Bridge (NE River) or Gillisdale Bridge (SW River) up to Big Intervale Bridge (NE River) or Scotsville Bridge (SW River)

    Zone 3 shuttle is available for both self-guided and those bringing their boats.

    Rate: $70+hst

    *Only available before 10 am and must be booked at least 24hrs in advance.
