Over the last few years, there has been a growing interest and a bit of a spotlight on paddling on Cape Breton Island. From this stemmed the idea to create an event and bring everyone interested in paddling, no matter what discipline, together for an annual event to network and paddle together.

2023 will mark the first year of an annual event we’ll be hosting on Cape Breton Island in partnership with Rado Raft and Packraft Canada. With this event, we hope to showcase the vast array of possibilities when it comes to paddling routes on Cape Breton Island. These events will be focused on activities, skills and information clinics, river paddling sessions, a gear raffle, a social BBQ, and more. We’re also happy to have A Night Of Adventure in and have arranged to have a couple of demos and classes during the event as well.

It just seemed fitting to host the first event on the banks of the Margaree River, a national Canadian Heritage River. The Margaree has around 120 km of river to explore between both the NE and SW River branches. The location was also chosen for its variety of accessible river sections, which allow both beginners and experts to find nearby river sections that suit them.

Paddlers are encouraged to bring whatever craft they would like to use for the weekend. All are welcome! It’s our hope that this event will be the catalyst for paddlers to share experiences and skills to help grow the paddling community on Cape Breton Island and Nova Scotia as well.

Event fees for 2023 will include:

• Registration fees

• 2 nights camping (optional 3rd night) - Glamping upgrade available

• 2 x Breakfasts

• 1 x BBQ Dinner (Saturday)

• 1 x Packed lunch

• Shuttle Fees

• Children that are five years old and younger can attend for free.
